June 1, Sat:
Sorry I've been on a little hiatus ever since the last exam. I'm still on a slow dial-up connection in Houston, but I'll be back in Pomona June 5th and I'll have more updates.
Montclair Clinic Info can be found off the link from the front page or by going under the "Misc Information" link on the left sidebar.
May 16, Thurs:
I have started the John Merrill dedication page on our website in his memory. You can access it by simply clicking on his picture on the front/main page of our website. You can submit anything you'd like to any of the class officers or John Yasmer or me (Lanny). Please bear with me as this is a work in progress. Thank you for your support.
May 10, Fri :
I promise I'll put up more after this exam.
Apr. 19, Fri :
Neuro's over! In the meantime, a few new developments on the official Western U website. You can now access your grades and other information through the registrars link on the main western U website. They also have a new link for prospective students and even though it's still being developed, it will hopefully give future applicants more info about our school.
If you're wondering what's going on for next week with Behavioral Science, I still have no clue and haven't read any of the e-mails or packets yet.. sigh. I can't believe there's a quiz on Tuesday....
Anyone still interested in getting a TON of experience doing physicals and wanting to take a road trip to AZ to have some fun and meet some AZCOM students as well as other Western U. PA's and PT's should come to the Sports Med Physicals Workshop this Wednesday (Apr. 24) at 5pm in the OMM lab. People will be going to AZ Friday morning/afternoon.. physicals will be Saturday followed by partying Saturday night and the ride back home on Sunday.
Apr. 16, Tues:
If you didn't note already regarding the neuro final breakdown of questions, Jones cancelled his lecture so those questions probably won't be on the exam. There are eight questions from Walters and only four from Docherty. There are a total of four anatomy lab questions which includes one neuroscience lab question.

I have bought two more cases of paper, but hopefully it will last a bit longer this time with some help from judicious use of printing. Remember that the class is paying for this and it is a privilege, not a given. Thanks!

Mar. 15, Fri:
The neurosensory lab will be open Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm. If you take out any brain specimens, please be sure to wrap them in wet paper towel or keep them in water (or else you-know-who will not be so pleased). Remember that since not all the colleges have spring break this coming week, the school should be open normal hours.
I added some notes from Dr. Schermerhorn's lectures in the study aids section under Neuro clinicians. If someone can clarify any questionables or add more questions and/or answers, please feel free to e-mail me.
*I've finally put up a page with some downloadable recorded lectures to help out for this exam. (Thanks to the guys who helped make this possible) You can find the link by going to the study aids section and clicking on "Recorded lectures".
I will try to keep posting various study aids as I receive them over this week so check in every now and then!
11:04am - I updated my version of Schermerhorn's questions after looking at Micah's version, but a few of the answers don't quite correspond, so you might want to compare the two sets and go over the notes and tables.
If you didn't check your e-mail, Joe Brown will be holding a neuro review on Mar. 23 (Saturday) 4-7pm in the MS-I Lecture Hall.
Mar. 14, Thurs:

There are a few changes to this week and the week we come back from Spring Break in the Neurosensory schedule. You can always download the most updated version from the "Events and MS-I Schedule" section here or off Blackboard.
Mar. 6, Wed:
Don't forget to stop by the Family Med. dept. on Thursday to see Rich Hirsch and pick up your grades for ICM. If you can, try to go in small groups to avoid bottlenecking the office... thanks! The workbooks will be out in our lecture hall stage Friday morning. If you can't pick up grades on Thursday, he'll be around next Tuesday, Mar. 12.
Added minutes from our class meeting (2/28/02) as well as some more SGA minutes.
Mar. 5, Tues:
Sorry for not updating anything lately. I had some technical difficulties with my laptop (not being able to run Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, or FrontPage.. ugh), but now everything seems fine, so keep on sending in those pictures!
There will be OMM reviews in the lab Wednesday and Thursday @ noon in addition to the OMM Review Session hosted by the wonderful MS-II's Thursday evening from 5-7pm. **Don't forget to look at your schedule and grouping for the OMM practical posted outside the OMM lab.

Changed to a better "Picture of the Moment".
We now have more
printer paper available as of Friday mid-afternoon!
Added a PDF file of a plate that helps in explaining the endorphin system pathways to the study aids section.
Feb. 21, Thurs:
I've put up three sets of PPT's contributed by a classmate where our slides are organized by tracts in ascending-descending order and the tracts are outlined so you can scroll through and study their paths more efficiently on your computer. (These are in the study aids section under neuroanatomy. There are three relatively large files)
Joe Brown's Neurosensory Review will be today from 5-7pm in our lecture hall.
Don't forget to pay Nancy Said $10 for the Medical Spanish class. She will be capping our class at the first 40 people to pay her (up until Friday) in order to give the dedicated people a first-come-first-served opportunity.
Printer and Toner: I'm working on getting a ton more paper for us and I will contact IT to get us a new toner cartridge.
Added the vocab. list of Spanish medical terms that was e-mailed to our class by one of our friendly PA students (Adam). In addition to this list, I included the web resources he listed and I have placed these in the "Misc. Information" area of our website.

Added "Intro to CNS Infections" Powerpoint presentation to the Study Aids section.
Feb. 14, Thurs:
I'll add Micah's neuroanatomy slides to the site when they finally download (sorry the site is kind of slow right now). That being said, from what I saw, Micah accidentally attached the file to the e-mail he sent everyone so in the meantime you can download it from there (and if not, then you can grab it from here when I finally get it up around lunch time).
I'll be cycling through various pictures sent to me and John on the front page. In the near future, I will keep the old pics around in the photo gallery section so you can browse through them and show your friends!
Feb. 13, Wed:
Added link in study aids section to UMDNJ's Neuroanatomy website which includes some decent outlines/notes and old exams/practicals, some of which have pictures to look at.
Feb. 12, Tues:

Sounds like we will be starting up that medical Spanish class soon! The first session is scheduled to be Tuesday, Feb. 19 @ 6pm (location TBD).
Opened up the "entertainment" section on the class webpage for time-spending purposes. Currently, I only have a page up for Snood, a cute little computer game you can play on your laptop and I have a high scores list there for those who are more competitively-inclined. Enjoy!
Feb. 5, Tues:
Asian Week celebrating Chinese New Year (sponsored by AAHPSA) will be selling tickets from Feb. 6 (Wed) to Feb. 12 (Tues) at lunch in front of the student commons for upcoming Thai and Chinese meals Feb. 13 (Wed) and Feb. 15 (Fri) respectively. Boba tapioca drinks will also be sold on Friday.. a tasty drink!
If you didn't check your e-mail, the anatomy department has set a deadline for Feb. 15 to return our bone boxes (in the stock room where you initially picked up the boxes) and clean out our drawers in the anatomy lab. This ICM week from Wed-Friday, they will be accepting bone boxes after noon/lunch. Other times for returning bone boxes include Feb. 12 (Tues) 12-1pm, Feb. 14 (Thurs) 12-1pm, and Feb. 15 (Fri) 11am-noon. Failure to return bone boxes by this time will result in your account being charged $2500 or $1000 based on your bones being human or plastic. Also, extra items not cleaned out of the drawers will be placed in a box in the cloak room.
Made some additions to the Class Officers page and updated the events schedule some. Hopefully I will be making some additions to our entertainment and pictures sections.
Feb. 4, Mon:
Hopefully I'll be getting some more updates on the site this week. For the time being, I've added the class officer meeting minutes from Jan. 25th for those of you wondering what ideas and concerns were discussed at the last meeting.
Jan. 30, Wed:
Posted up the Surface Anatomy for Head sheet in the Study Aids section as there might be a few questions from there on the Head and Neck test.
Jan. 29, Tues:
Sorry for that little hiatus. I posted the anatomy lab handout for Monday (Orbit) and Tuesday (Ears) as I didn't see many handouts left after the day was over.
If you didn't get the e-mail, Richard Winn announced that the labs will be open LATE Wednesday and Thursday night till 1am. Also, certain rooms in the HPC building will also be open for more studying space (the faculty lounge being the only one I remember off the top of my head).
Jan. 24, Thurs:
Our class printer works! I e-mailed out a powerpoint presentation that should help people get their computers set up for printing on this network printer. If you missed it or accidentally deleted it, you can find it here.
Jan. 23, Wed:
Added anatomy lab handout: Mandibular N. & Maxillary A.. (Tuesday's lab) and Dr. Woll's Q's for Tuesday's lecture.
Don't forget that our "gripe" session for Genetics will be this Thursday, Jan. 24 at noon in our lecture hall. (Remember, Dr. Gilbert don't necessarily want to give us a sizeable curve so it would be to our benefit to find a couple of answers to contest.)
On Thursday, there will be a Dean's listening hour from 11am-noon with Richard Wynn, Director of Academic Research, who will be here to listen to our concerns and ideas that need to be addressed.
There will be a class OFFICER meeting at 9am this Friday in our lecture hall.
Referring to our last schedule on BB, Bales' lecture on Thursday will be staying from 1-2pm.
Jan. 18, Fri :
As far as schedule changes go, Dr. Choctaw's lecture is definitely on Jan. 24, from 10-11am. Stella is working to move our Bales' lecture that day to 11-12pm so we can have the rest of the afternoon off.
Added Dr. Woll's Q&A to study aids as well as a powerpoint format of the facial nerve diagram handout simplfied by Rob Castro. Let me know if the printout doesn't come out clear enough. (Besides, you should be drawing this from memory in the future!)
Added scans of the last two lab handouts: 1) Superficial Face & Eye and 2) TMJ and Muscles of Mastication.
Jan 17, Thurs:
Thanks to everyone who participated in our class officer voting and in the officer elections. It shows that people really care about the well-being of our class.
Congratulations to our new class officers for the Spring semester of 2002! I know we will do a great job representing and supporting our class... pics coming up soon!
Jan 16, Wed :
According to Stella, switch Bales' lecture on Jan. 24, Thursday from 1pm to 10am.(This is in week 3) That means there should be no classes left on schedule for the day after our 10-11am anatomy lecture. Woohoo!
Regarding schedule change: Seems like there's a conflict for the new anatomy lecture time slot on Jan. 24 after I looked at BB and the note left by Dr. Yang states that Dr. Choctaw's lecture on Jan. 23 has been moved into that same time slot as Bales' new lecture for Jan. 24.
Jan. 15, Tues:
Azmi would like some extras for our class skit. Anyone interested should stick around our lecture hall this Wednesday (Jan. 16) after Bales' lecture.
Added today's lab handouts (Pharynx/Larynx) to study aids.
Jan. 14, Mon :
Tried to revamp the events section a bit (Actually, I got tired of studying and looked wistfully at the holidays coming up the next few months.. then decided it would be helpful to put them on our events calendar).
If you haven't already, might be worth going up to get your genetics exam grade back. I don't promise anything good will come of it though...
Change to our schedule: Move Dr. Trenkle's Clinical Derm lecture on Jan. 18 (Fri) at 10-12pm to Jan. 25 (Fri) at 10-12pm.
Jan. 10, Thurs:
Don't forget to pick up those Diff Dx handouts from the Dept. of Family Medicine upstairs. Friday will be the last day to get a hard copy of it. Have it ready for Monday, Jan. 14 when we have our first clinical skills lab.
That pathology gripe session will be at lunch today in our lecture hall.
A required meeting for those who wish to run for class officer will be held in the SGA room upstairs on Tuesday, Jan.15 @ 12:15pm. Don't forget to fill out the application included in the recent e-mail from Charlie Sauer. (I placed a link to the document in our "Class Officers" section on the website). Class speeches will be done the following day, Wednesday, and voting will take place on Thursday.
Jan. 9, Wed :
Posted the anatomy lab handouts for subocc. joints and scalp/cranial cavity/meninges.
Posted integument histology slides in powerpoint format.
Jan. 7, Mon :
Path exam contests to be addressed at 12:30pm, Thursday, Jan. 10 in the MS-I Lecture Hall by Dr. Gilbert.
Schedule changes to weeks 2,3.
Don't forget to pick up your exams upstairs.
Dec. 31, Mon :
Happy New Year's Eve! I finished the rest of the Head and Neck Powerpoint presentations so you can now download them all from our study aids section. There should be 15 presentations in all including the two that were required over the holidays (that I haven't quite gotten to yet). Don't forget Dr. Kuehn has the radiological self-study presentation as well which you can snag off BB. If you find any errors in the presentations, please let me know so I can make the appropriate changes. (Thanks to Kirk for showing me the smooth way of converting these slides to ppt).
Dec. 27, Thurs:
I went ahead and posted up 1) cranial osteology, 2) cranial nerves and bone relationships, and 3) suboccipital joints presentations in Powerpoint format and put them in the Study Aids section. I'll get around to the other presentations in the next few days.
Dec. 26, Wed:
Due to increasing demand, I've posted the cranial osteology slides converted to an MS Word document for easier viewing and posted it in the study aids section. Thanks to Az for doing the work. I will hopefully get the rest of the lectures up as time allows in the next few days.
Dec. 19, Wed:
Last day of finals for us. Have a safe, fun, and relaxing holiday break! Don't forget to look over Bales' packets and Netter before you get back. (Try copying the first couple of pages out of Netter instead of bringing the whole thing home)
In case anyone was wondering: All school buildings will be closed from Dec. 22-Jan. 6.
Dec. 16, Sun :
Hopefully fixed the problems people were having after downloading the Neoplasia ppt from Rob.
Added three study aids for the various pathology labs from Phoebe!
Added some more micro study aids (some of them you have received from Arnold in your e-mail box already)
Dec. 15, Sat :

Even though it is late, I posted the pharm study aids that were e-mailed out to everyone in case someone lost their copy.
I received some study aid tables from Dave Hess (one of our microbio TA's) for our upcoming microbiology exam. You can find them all in the study aids section.
Dec. 7, Fri :
Put up a ton of biochem study aids, including scans of handouts from Joey Brown's last review session, study questions, and study aid outlines/charts. Thanks to the people who took the time to write them up! (PS - Anyone have any genetics or path study aids?)
Dec. 3, Mon :
One minor change was made to our schedule for week 17 (I had this change already for some reason). The pharm. lecture originally at 1pm on Friday (12/7/01) was moved to 2pm.
Pathology midterm grades are out and the test is posted. The professors will be available for challenges @ noon, Dec. 5 in the MS-I Lecture Hall.
